Touch Screen Cleaning Procedures
- Using a soft cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol or a mild non-abrasive soap & water solution, gently wipe the touch screen clean.
- Wipe the screen and edges dry.
- Make sure the glass and screen edges dry completely before using the unit.
- Do not use sharp objects to clean around the edges of the touch screen.
Cleaners/Solvents To Use
Use the following cleaner/solvents to clean the unit.
- Mild Non-Abrasive Soap and Water Solution or
- 70% Isopropyl Alcohol
Cleaners/Solvents to NOT use
Do NOT use any of the following to clean the unit.
- Methyl Alcohol
- Degreasers
- Ammonia-based Cleaners such as glass cleaners (Windex)
- Abrasive Cleaners
- Vinegar Cleaners
- Any Strong Dissolvent
- Thinner
- Benzene
- Solvents
- Bleach

Touch Display
The touch display gets smudged by fingerprints with each use. Therefore, you should clean the touch display throughout the day to keep the system performing at its best and provide shoppers a more pleasant experience. Few people enjoy touching a screen that is smudged or visibly dirty.
- Spray an ammonia-based cleaner on a soft cloth and gently wipe the glass screen clean with the cloth. Be sure to spray the cleaner onto the cloth. Never spray directly onto the Touch Display.
- Caution: Do NOT use any other type of cleaners. Cleaners such as vinegar, solvents, or degreasers can damage the screen.
- Wipe the screen and edges dry.
- Allow the glass and screen edges to dry completely before using the unit.
HAND SCANNERS
- Dampen a soft cloth with one of the approved cleaning agents or use pre-moistened wipes.
- Gently wipe all surfaces, including the front, back, sides, top and bottom. Never apply liquid directly to the scanner. Be careful not to let liquid pool around the scanner window, trigger, cable connector or any other area on the device.
- Be sure to clean the trigger and in between the trigger and the housing (use a cotton-tipped applicator to reach tight or inaccessible areas).
- Immediately dry the scanner window after cleaning with a soft non-abrasive cloth to prevent streaking.
- Allow the unit to air dry before use.
If required, wipe the digital scanner with the following list of approved cleansers:
- Isopropyl alcohol
- Bleach/sodium hypochlorite
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Gentle dish soap and water
SCANNER SCALES
Scanner Body
Clean the scanner body using the following.
- Soft cloth dampened by lukewarm water and mild soap.
- Soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface dry.
Clean the scanner body using the damp cloth first, followed by the dry cloth to finish.
Vertical Scan Window
Clean the Vertical Scan Window with a soft cloth damped with a common, non– abrasive, liquid window cleaner.
Caution:Never spray directly onto the scanner glass and never pour liquid onto the scanner.
SELF-CHECKOUT ATTENDANT STATION TERMINAL
Touch Screen Cleaning Procedures
- Use a soft cloth dampened lightly with a mild non-abrasive soap & water solution or 70% Isopropyl Alcohol.
- Gently wipe the subject area clean.
- Wipe the damp areas dry. Make sure the glass and touch screen edges are completely dry before using the unit.
- Avoid getting any liquids inside the unit.
Cleaners/Solvents to NOT use
Do NOT use any of the following to clean the unit.
- Methyl Alcohol
- Degreasers
- Ammonia-based Cleaners such as glass cleaners (Windex)

SELF-CHECKOUT LANE
Self-Checkout Scanner + Lane Chassis
Never pour liquid directly onto any part of NCR SelfServ Checkout. Always spray or dampen a lint-free cloth and use the cloth to clean the unit.
You can clean the checkstand exterior with any common household spray cleaner or mild detergent. Avoid strong solvents and abrasive cleansers as they may damage the painted finish and belts.
- Use a damp, lint-free cloth to clean the exterior panels and scanner body.
- Always spray or dampen the cloth.
- Never spray or pour liquid directly on any part of the NCR SelfServ Checkout.
Grease or dirt can be removed by a light application of cotton wadding dampened with either isopropyl or ethyl alcohol. Follow by cleaning the surface with a detergent solution as described above.
Dust should NOT be permitted to accumulate in the upper cabinet or main body of the NCR SelfServ Checkout core.
Security Scale
- Spray or dampen a lint free cloth with a common household spray cleaner or mild detergent to clean the Security Scale tray.
- Wipe away any dirt or debris.
- Never spray or pour liquid directly on any part of the NCR SelfServ Checkout.
